A cute Asian elephant at the Whipsnade Zoo in England is definitely a lucky mammal as she gets fed with food by both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip while at the opening of a new Elephant Care Centre!
This event occurred earlier this month of April 2017, as the they celebrated the opening of the new Centre for Elephant Care at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in Dunstable, United Kingdom. Donna, the 7-year-old Asian Elephant, got giddy as she was fed bananas by both the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. The adorable elephant even excitedly grabbed the fruits from their hands and threw them immediately into her mouth.
Just before their interaction, the Queen had unveiled a special plaque for the Elephant Care Centre, and received a bouquet of flowers from a young boy whose father works at the zoo. And since Queen Elizabeth is a patron, this new centre will be reportedly run by the Zoological Society of London.
This new state-of-the-art centre has features that include interactive displays that allow the elephant’s visitors to try jumbo pedicures using a life-size model of an elephant’s foot.
This Centre for Elephant Care is set amidst 30 acres of rolling paddocks, and will also be looking after eight other Asian elephants aside from Donna.
