Kayaking with whales

Two kayakers from Argentina who were paddling off the coast of Puerto Madryn in the Patagonia region got the most shocking experience of their lives as a huge whale swam beneath their kayak and lifted them up with its back!

The video below shows the pair of kayakers spotting the whale from afar and excitedly filming it. This was when the whale seemed to dive back under water, and resurfacing underneath the kayak to briefly lift the occupants in the air.

Luckily, the kayakers were fine and were laughing off their encounter with the gentle whale. What an experience.

Those paddlers had no business approaching the what that closely. I hate seeing videos of people harassing wildlife. Sure, it was a lovely experience for them, but at what cost?

Sorry Frieda but this is definitely not harassment. The whales chose to interact with the kayakers in this manner. If the whales didn’t want to be near the kayakers, they would simply swim away, or go underneath them and continue on. But instead, the whales approach the kayakers. The whale that lifts the kayakers out of the water goes out of its way to position itself under them before lifting them up. It is common for whales to approach and even follow boats out of curiosity.
