Income Eco Run Race Raises Awareness Towards Having Greener Way of Living in Singapore
An eco-friendly race that aims to raise awareness and develop a green way of living amongst the people of Singapore was held on the morning of April 30, 2017. This is called the Income Eco Run 2017. This race has four different categories which include an 800m Kids Dash, 10km Team Category, 10km Competitive Race, and 21.1km Half Marathon.
This run has made history because it introduced a Zero Waste Runner Category for the very first time! With this, runners forbear Finisher’s T-shirts and Finisher Medals to gash down on production waste. In addition to race bib, race pack, and race singlet, participants also received a handheld water bottle to use during the race. This is minimizes the use of disposable plastic cups.
Upon registration, runners were given the chance to choose whether they want to register as an Eco runner or Zero Waste Runner.
The heart of this Income Eco Run is to encourage the runners to minimize carbon footprint through the use of bicycles, shuttle bus’s, carpooling, public transit, and GrabHitch. The participants practiced it by doing so to get to the starting line at F1 Pit Building.
As the race closed down, the participants were not able to hide their tiredness due to the long exhausting run. However, despite the flowing sweat in their bodies, all of them are filled with big grin in their faces, knowing that they ran for a cause.
The Income Eco Run 2017 has helped in promoting awareness towards a greener way of living in Singapore. This does not just go for the participants but also for all of the people who followed it through news coverage and social media.
